2007 - Bristol - Djr

November: this is the weekend that started with a brain numbed Friday night; it had been a really nutty day at work and I came home feeling utterly exhausted. Jo was away, and had been for a couple of days, so I grabbed a half-bottle of whisky on the way home, couple cans of Coke and knocked my head into shape with the whole lot.

Saturday was a blissfully chilled out start, big mug of tea sitting propped up in bed with the room-heater on. Then a drive into town and a wander around the cafes; lit a candle for Dad in the Cathedral and then headed up to Hagen's place. He said I was invited to a party across the road. Excellent.

November: so I got dressed up, headed back to Hagens and then wandered across the road with him. Amazing reaction when I walked in...some people went "aww cool", others just looked really freaked out. With the New Planet Rock boots I was wearing my height was around 6ft,5". Fabulous party, some truly lovely people...I had a great time. At one point a bunch of us decided to walk down the main street to the 24hr Sainsburys. Walking past a number of packed pubs with tough Bristolians standing outside smoking fags, it was amazing to see/hear so many of them returning to their childhood memories...their voices softened as they called out "Darth! It's Darth Vader!"

November: the party was designed as a birthday celebration for one of the girls living with Aivind. Hagen was wearing a crown, and carrying a Wii joystick. So that made him a Wii King.

A Viking. Get it. I thought it was pretty clever actutally.

November: it was one of our post-midnight meanders down to Sainsbury's (again) that I noticed these two figures hurrying towards our group. Carrying two crates of beer. Ah! Heroes!

November: top bloke, wish I could recall his name. Scottish accent and hyperactive beyond belief...the kind of guy who can naturally make you laugh and laugh and laugh. Great memories of hanging out with him.

November: when I walked into the party, our eyes (tinted lenses) met...he raised his hand in salute. I returned a Jedi thumb and forefinger salute. I walked over to him. He said, "What can I do for you my master?"

I said, "Get me a drink."
