2006 - Jesmond Dene - Kenn-Ole

December: My cousin came over from Norway the night before the funeral and stayed a few days. He got to see the building where he studied in '71-75... it's still there, the same stairwell, even the same smell of printers ink... he also got to experience Jesmond Dene, and just like our mutual Uncle Rune, loved the mix of energies in the woods.

Kenn-Ole is a professional illustrator, he read my short story Cloudy Head and was so enchanted by it he's offered to create illustrations.

December: it was the Sunday after the funeral. The curate had mentioned he would remember Dad on the following Sunday Service. Mum and my sister went inside. I stayed outside, sitting on a bench, listening to the bells ringing out.

Kenn-Ole returned to Norway. My sister returned to London. Now it was just mum and I.

I decided to stay in Newcastle until Christmas.
